Notice of Public Comment Period and Hearing

The Air Pollution Control Board of Jefferson County opens a public comment period October 4, 1999, and will hold a public hearing on Monday, November 8, 1999, on the 1-hour ozone attainment demonstration for the Louisville ozone nonattainment area and site-specific plans for reasonably available control technology (RACT) for 10 industrial sources of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) in Jefferson County. The nonattainment area includes Jefferson and portions of Bullitt and Oldham Counties, Kentucky, and Clark and Floyd Counties, Indiana. Site-specific NOx RACT plans are for E.I. duPont de Nemours & Company, Ford Louisville Assembly Plant, General Electric Company, Kosmos Cement, Louisville Gas & Electric-Cane Run, Louisville Gas & Electric-Mill Creek, Louisville Medical Center Steam Plant, Oxy Vinyls LP, Rohm & Haas, and Texas Gas Transmission. If approved for submittal, the attainment demonstration and the 10 site-specific NOx RACT plans will be submitted as part of the Kentucky State Implementation Plan.

Written statements will be accepted by the Board, Jonathan L. Trout, Secretary-Treasurer, 850 Barret Ave., Louisville, KY 40204-1745 until 5:00 pm November 2, 1999. Oral statements will be accepted at the public hearing on November 8, at 9:00 a.m., preceding a special Board meeting in the Board Room, 850 Barret Ave.
